About Rescue 101 SAR

Rescue 101 SAR is a veteran-led organization dedicated to serving communities and individuals in Ohio and across the United States with search and rescue operations; emergency response; disaster preparation, response, and relief; and community education. We achieve this mission by mobilizing active and retired first responders, veterans, volunteers, and youth explorer volunteers to provide prompt, professional, and effective services to those in need at no cost. Our goal is to be a trusted partner for communities and individuals during times of crisis and to help build resilience through education and preparedness. We are committed to excellence in all that we do, and to fostering a culture of service, leadership, and teamwork among our members. 

1) Team members are ready to deploy within 4 hours for disasters and 30 minutes for search and rescue missions. Members have their bags packed and ready. This means we can have a team ready to deploy when orders are received.

2) Help empower individuals and communities to strengthen and sustain their preparedness by engaging public and community organizations to build a collective understanding of their risks, the resources available to assist their preparations, and their roles and responsibilities in the event of a disaster.

3) Conduct effective, unified incident response operations by following the National Response Framework; maximizing interagency coordination, information sharing, and preparation; and implementing initiatives to ensure a stable, flexible, and fully qualified disaster workforce.

4) Provide timely and appropriate disaster assistance through programs that support, streamline, and simplify the delivery of services for individuals and communities.

5) Provide preventative search and rescue education and awareness programs for individuals, and groups.

6) Continually strive to improve our search and rescue capabilities to deliver a valuable service to the communities we serve.

7) Provide appropriate training for volunteers. Including divers, high angle rescue, ground search, beacon search, water rescue, boat operations, 4-wheel drive, and search managers. 

8) Interface and build relationships with emergency services, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, Bureau of Land Management, and United States Forest Service to provide an improved initial response in support of search and rescue.  

In 2016 members of the public asked Rescue 101 Search and Rescue, Inc. to look at possible localizing resources, the people asked, and we are happy to deliver. After more than a year in the making, we are pleased to announce the development of the following local teams.
